Woodstock House and Garden Inistioge, Co KIlkenny

One of my favourite places in Kilkenny is Woodstock.  Woodstock is a former estate. I visited earlier in the year. I am having issues loading photos so I can edit in a way they are not so dark so forgive me. There is an arboretum and different kinds of trees such as Monkey puzzle, noble fir. If you are interested in trees its a good place to visit.

There is lovely gardens as well. In summer there is a tea house that is open. There is a playground for children. Its a nice place for a walk.  Woodstock House was built in 1745-47 for Sir William Fownes by the architect Francis Bindon. The main house was burnt in 1922 after the building had been occupied by “Black and Tan’ troops.Woodstock House is being conserved presently.

Sometimes in the summer they have events on so check out the website. Inistiogue is around 40 minutes outside Kilkenny heading towards New Ross.
